Excellent book full of detailed information about fundraising that will put anyone on the right track with their non-profit. It begins with a basic overview of fundraising and preparation for fundraising, then delves into the different strategies you can, ranging from auctions to scrip to special events. The strategies is where you will find the real " meat" in the text because the author provides ample examples of simple and concrete situations faced by groups that are the most likely to need this book. That is very helpful! If you need a fundraising idea, this is your book.The only downside is that the book doesn't provide an overall fundraising plan. A fundraising plan is started in the beginning of the book, but it is not fully complete. This is understandable since there are so many options and so situations that a fundraising group can face. Still, it would have been nice for the author to attempt.Still, a great book for any nonprofit's bookshelf. You could spend a whole lifetime using the examples and strategies for your nonprofit or group.

This book is designed to help the average person trying to raise money for a good cause. As the subtitle says, the book deals with things like community fundraisers for schools or youth organizations - small scale fundraising. That's not to say this means only fundraisers aiming for a few hundred dollars - the sky is still the limit on how much anyone wants to raise for their cause. But the purpose of the book is to break down the process, step-by-step, for those who don't have access to a professional staff.I've dabbled in fundraising before, both for individuals (i.e. raising money for people struck by tragedy, such as a devastating house fire or disabling accident) as well as third-party fundraising for an established non-profit organization. This book will come in extremely handy for any future fundraising. This guide walks you through the steps to determine what kind of fundraiser will work best for your cause. I know that Amish communities vary but many author's use this as a creative license to create their own fictitious Amish rules. One thing that did not ring true for me was the unforgiving nature of her Amish characters. Forgiveness is at the very core of their faith. The same day a crazed murderer opened fire on that Amish school, they went right to his widow 's house and offered her comfort. They did not blame her or shun her as her American neighbors did. Even the Amish children who were murdered forgave their attacker. So the petty and uncharitable Amish characters in this book just don't ring true. Also some typos and editing mistakes. Still... it was a very good story. I enjoyed it and may read one more by this author before I decide whether to add her to my list of must read or not.

This is the first in this thrilling series. I've read different types of Amish mysteries and I think they are all very good, but this particular series seems very deep and really describes the Amish way of life. Chloe touched my heart and her friendship with Becky really made the story real.Chloe begins her journey to Appleseed Creek by working for the college. Although she only plans to stay for a short time, you can tell she is excited to make the change. As she is driving, she meets up with Becky, a young Amish girl who is being taunted by a couple of hooligans. Chloe offers Becky assistance and their friendship begins despite their differences. Soon Becky explains to Chloe about her desire to be an artist and that she has left the Amish community to become English.With no place Togo, Chloe offers Becky a place to stay an offers her comfort during this emotional time. Timothy is Becky's brother and he has left the Amish community as well. He appreciates Chloe taking in Becky and does what he can to help.Becky tries to find a job, but no one in the community is willing to help her. On the day of a promising job interview, Becky takes Chloe's car and a horrible accident happens. Becky is in trouble now and this causes further separation from her family. When the accident takes the life of the Bishop, Becky is pushed away from everyone and feels that she may have been punished for leaving the Amish community.Once the investigation begins, certain things are discovered and maybe Becky wasn't responsible for the accident.Someone has deeper motives and Becky and Chloe fight to uncover the truth.This was such a heartwarming story, filled with mystery and intrigue. I am a definite fan and look forward to reading more in this 5 star series.

Chloe Humphrey has a new job at Harshberger College in Appleseed Creek as the Director of Computer Services. She is hoping to work there for two years to get the experience she needs for a job at a bigger college. On her way to her new home she encounters Becky Troyer. Becky is being hounded by new men and is desperate to escape them. Chloe rescues Becky and gains a new friend and roommate!Becky Troyer is nineteen and has decided to leave her Amish home. Becky wants to be an artists (portraying faces) and it is not allowed by her Bishop. Chloe agrees to let Becky temporarily stay with her. Timothy Troyer is ex-Amish and is now a carpenter in Appleseed Creek. Timothy is Becky’s brother. Timothy tries to convince Becky to go home, but he is unsuccessful. Becky wants to pursue her art and is not ready to settle down and get married.Chloe’s first week in Appleseed Creek is not what she expected. Her new rental home is very dilapidated. She meets her new employees and only two of them are welcoming. Then she gets a call from Becky. Becky has been looking for a job and decided to “borrow” Chloe’s car for an interview. Of course, Becky not having a driver’s license, insurance, or any driving experience did not stop her. Unfortunately, Becky had an accident and Bishop Glick is dead. Appleseed Creek Chief of Police, Greta Rose is looking into the incident. Becky could be charged with manslaughter.At the same time someone is terrorizing the Amish in the community. They are destroying property. Who is trying to hurt these peace loving people and why are they doing it? Chloe and Timothy set out to clear Becky and find out who are hurting the Amish. A Plain Death has romance, mystery, friendship, great characters, and a lovely setting! I give it 5 out of 5 stars. The mystery is pretty easy to solve, but I enjoyed the story and characters.

This book is about a young woman, a computer expert, who accepted a job at a small college, in an Amish community. On the way to the town, she came on a young girl, about 17 years old, being harrassed by 2 men, so offered the girl, Becky, a ride. They came to the house she was renting, and Becky asked if she could stay a couple of days. She had run away from the Amish community because she was an artist and the Amish frowned on images of people. Becky's brother comes to see her, and the computer expert falls for him right away. He was kicked out of the Amish community because he had gotten into trouble when younger. He became a carpenter and worked at the college, so they got to see each other often. Timothy, the brother, joined a church that believed in forgiveness and the grace of God. One day, Becky borrowed the car and ran into an Amish buggy, killing the bishop. She had no license and was not authorized to take the car, so she was charged with driving without a license and insurance. They found out someone had cut the brake lines of the car, so she was not charged with murder, but still the lesser charges. Then the Amish had problems with people letting their chickens out, driving vehicles through their soybean fields, etc, so they all worked to find out why and how did it all.This book was intense, romantic, and showed how faith in God helps when things go wrong. I enjoyed this book very much, and the surprise ending surprised me! I highly recommend this book to all.

The development of coherent radiation sources for sub-angstrom wavelengths - i.e. in the hard X-ray and gamma-ray range -  is a challenging goal of modern physics. The availability of such sources will have many applications in basic science, technology and medicine, and, in particular, they may have a revolutionary impact on nuclear and solid state physics, as well as on the life sciences.The present state-of-the-art lasers are capable of emitting electromagnetic radiation from the infrared to the ultraviolet, while free electron lasers (X-FELs) are now entering the soft X-ray region. Moving further, i.e. into the hard X and/or gamma ray band, however, is not possible without new approaches and technologies. In this book we introduce and discuss one such novel approach: the focus is on the radiation formed in a Crystalline Undulator, where electromagnetic radiation is generated by a bunch of ultra-relativistic particles channeling through a periodically bent crystalline structure. It is shown that under certain conditions, such a device emits intensive spontaneous monochromatic radiation and may even reach the coherence of laser light sources. Readers will be presented with the underlying fundamental physics and be familiarized with the theoretical, experimental and technological advances made during the last one and a half decades in exploring the various features of investigations into crystalline undulators. This research draws upon knowledge from many research fields - such as materials science, beam physics, the physics of radiation, solid state physics and acoustics, to name but a few.  Accordingly, much care has been taken by the authors to make the book as self-contained as possible in this respect, so as to also provide a useful  introduction to this emerging field to a broad readership of researchers and scientist with various backgrounds.

I looked forward to getting the map, especially since it said Белару́сь on one side. Well, there are roads shown, but not all the useful ones are there in the frontier areas, the scale is OK, but this is not a map that you're going to use easily while driving. The roads are in a red or yellow colour set against a dark green topographic background, which makes them really hard to see. And the place names are in small black Roman characters. There aren't very many road signs to begin with in Belarus (Белару́сь), but I would have expected many of the places to at least be shown in the Cyrillic characters. It's fine if you ask an older person in the northwest part for help because they might not even answer if you speak Russian or write Cyrillic, but you will get a cheerful reply asking in Polish and writing Roman characters. But if it's someone younger, you'll get a blank Я не понимаю (I don't understand) look unless you write Cyrillic and спросите на русском языке. So if you want a map to pin on the wall at home, it's OK, but if you're going tp use it to explore, then take some Google map printouts until you find a better map in a Минск аэропорт (airport) shop.

I have looked at the map but not really used it as I haven't been to Belarus yet. Info on Bellarus is sparse in any form, so I hope this map will help me navigate

I really liked this book. It was in perfect condition, the magnifying glass is in the back of the front cover and I didn't take it out, but it's like one of those advent prize boxes you punch out. I ended up returning this because I was picturing what I later found out was "Where's Wally - Plundering Pirates".What's the difference:Where's Wally is more busy and there isn't a lot of description/history/education. Also some of the graphics are a bit complicated and a very small child might fight it a bit too tiring to focus on, so Pirates Magnified would be a better option.Pirates Magnified is more balanced between history/education and search. Every few pages are dedicated to a famous pirate, at the end of the book it shows all of the famous pirates, the end of the book shows the answers to the searches are at the end of the book. I would suggest it for kids who aren't ready for Where's Wally/Waldo and if you want a bit more learning in the book.The only reason why I returned this book is because I remembered a specific book from my childhood and thought this was it and it wasn't. Otherwise, I would definitely, and probably will, buy this book for a child.Edit: In case anyone was looking for more pirate book searches, I found the original book I was looking for: Stephen Biesty's Cross-Sections: Man-Of-War. I do believe the Biesty version is more detailed, but also a little bit more gruesome (shows blood if there's a shark attack). I will write a detailed review in a little bit. David Long's pirate search is the better option for the little one's with Where's Wally/Waldo coming in second. I'd probably rank Biesty as a 5th-8th grade search to be safe.

This is a fun and interactive book for my 7 year old who loves all things pirates. He is constantly grabbing for this and enjoys using the magnifying glass that comes with it. It’s a large book and is beautifully illustrated. Will be buying other books from this series.

I knew this book was good, but it’s even better than I was expecting. It’s fantastic. High quality, very funny, good stories and narrative, good drawings, the magnifying glass included is very good quality too. My child loves it. The very best children book I’ve bought.

So fun! The pictures are great and the magnifying glass adds a level of fun. Love that they base each page on facts from history.

This is a beautiful book. There are so many hidden pictures and clues, just the kind of challenge a young boy will enjoy reading with a parent or an older boy will enjoy reading on his own. I bought it to give for a Christmas present.

Very deceiving that this book is sold WITHOUT the audio. Why would anyone want to purchase a book with LISTENING exercises without the audio files? In the beginning, it says that you can click on an icon to access the audio files, but it didn't work for me. This is very upsetting!!!

I bought this book to have the latest updates on questions in the toefl exam but still the exam had more complicated questions especially in the speaking section. Also it is not helping with the listening. The questions in the real exam are soooo shrewed and tricky that even understaning 100% of what you listening won’t help. Toefl is an exam to make you make a mistake. It is not the best way of rating your english knowledge. This book also is not helping that much.

This book is amazing it gives you an idea of what to expect. I'll take the test next week and will update my review then.I tested 2 days ago and the examples in the book have the same structure as in the actual test. The reading part is 20 min. for each passage and the answers. Speaking was excactly the same which gives you good practice opportunities. Listening...I have to say they speak faster than on the CD. And the writing were the same.All in all this book is very helpful.

Do not purchase the kindle version. No audio included.

Don't buy this e-book from Amazon! It does NOT came with the downloadable content. This was very upsetting. I got in touch with Amazon to try to receive the content, but they put me in touch with an ETS assistant, who explained that since I purchased it from Amazon, there was nothing she could do. I'm asking for a refund now.

Very good guide for high-intermediate to low-advanced ESL students. The first 220 pages explain how the TOEFL exam works and from page 221 on there are practice exercises.

Just wanted the CD. Well... all i can say is what they offer on CD is so much easier then the test itself. The listening section is brutal on the actual exam- YOU DO HAVE TO TAKE NOTES!. Buy the Princeton review instead.

Textbook is good! Separate 4 section (Reading, Whiting, Listening and Speaking) it is useful for study TOEFL.However, I couldn’t watch DVD-ROM with Mac-PC...
