Larry Kramer is a man with strong emotions, and he has a special talent for translating those emotions to the written word so that they may be translated back to the spoken word by others in the form of a drama without any loss of that emotional urgency. I had the opportunity to see the original production of a stellar example of Kramer's dramatic skills, The Normal Heart, at New York's Public Theater in 1985 with Brad Davis as its star, the original Ned Weeks. It was a shattering evening, and the play struck me with the force of a hurricane.Reading the play for the first time over 30 years later, I'm still powerfully impacted by the forcefulness of Kramer's words. Although the play is set in the early days of the AIDS epidemic, when the number of the dead was still only in the thousands, it does not seem dated in the least. The Royal National Theatre of Great Britain has included the play in its list of the 100 greatest plays of the twentieth century, and the honor is well deserved. Kramer's play speaks to universal values and passions which can withstand the passage of time. Undoubtedly students will be studying this text and actors will be performing this play for many years to come. The Destiny of Me, a companion play to The Normal Heart also featuring Ned Weeks as the protagonist, is a memory play and is not quite the primal scream of the earlier drama. It is set a number of years after The Normal Heart when Ned Weeks has become ill, but, occasionally confusingly, it also is set in Weeks' youth. Despite the muted emotional tones (as contrasted with The Normal Heart), the play still packs quite the powerful punch, a punch sufficiently strong that the play was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in drama the year it was first produced.Because of the ebb and flow in time setting from Weeks' childhood to his present, this play probably works much better when seen in performance than when read as a text. The Destiny of Me requires a reader with a skilled imagination to play out the drama in his or her head in order for it to be fully appreciated. Merely reading and absorbing the words will not do this drama justice. Nevertheless, the effort should be made because this drama, too, is one that is likely to withstand the passage of time. It is a play very much of its time at the same time it is a play that, like its predecessor, takes up universal values and passions. These are the elements of great drama; these are the elements of the two plays by Larry Kramer in this timeless volume.

The rating and description are mainly for the first of these two plays, "The Normal Heart," which is Kramer's angry and heart-wrenching account of the social response to AIDS in the early years of its appearance in New York. A long-time admirer of Randy Shilts' book "And the band played on" I found this to be a condensed, angrier, and more impassioned companion piece; in fact I'm assigning it as the first of three pieces on AIDS in a course I've developed on disease narratives. Kramer's play is the artist/playwright/care-giver/activist's perspective; Shilts (excerpts only) will be the journalistic viewpoint and Abraham Verghese's "My own country" rounds it out with a doctor's account."The Destiny of Me," while doubtless brilliant and troubling in it's own way, did not quite do it for me maybe because it was a much more personal story that I couldn't relate to. I still think it's worth a read.. but am glad that I'd decided on the former for the course. My other choice would have been "Angels in America" by Tony Kushner but ultimately I went with Kramer's play not because as it's closer to the events as they happened. What's really shocking in an eye-opening way reading this play several decades since it was written is the fact that the word AIDS does not even make an appearance once! And yet it's obvious what's being talked about. Anybody interested in human behavior, in sickness & how to cope with the fears that come with uncertainty or in this case, sheer ignorance, should read this and be outraged.

The play is amazingly affecting and reading it without any preconceptions it brought me to gulping tears.Set in the early '80s and bringing to life the beginning of Aids epidemic. It was groundbreaking theater that predated playwright Tony Kushner's Angels in Ameria. The heartbreak, fear different factions of the Gay/Lesbian/Transgender/and Straight communities are explored through the relationship of an activist and NY times writer in a relationship. This play is in production as a movie with Ryan Murphy (Glee, Nip/Tuck, New Normal) as director, playwright Tony Kushner writing the screenplay and Mark Ruffulo (the Avengers)/Matt Bomer (White Collar) playing the couple. Should be a great movie.

I have never read a Larry Kramer play nor have I been introduce to much literature about the AIDS epidemic, but these plays deliver a touching narration on not only historical context but the emotional impact on the characters of this play. The Normal Heart deserves its critical acclamation and our attention as artist and as a fellow citizens of the world. It is not afraid to bring out the dark details of this time and stamp a message that should be heralded in today's time. The Destiny of Me, in my opinion is just as strong of a play, but focuses more on the deliverance of the main characters ego and the stacks of being a human being in this time period. I strongly recommend this play not only as a thespian, but to anyone wanting to understand the AIDS epidemic on a deeper level. I will definitely be reading more literature by Mr. Kramer.

Review

Catholic Register "The author's prose is clean and often elegant. . . The Fear of Beggars should be on the bookshelves of teachers, academics, religious and lay, and all those involved in Christian social justice."Christian Century "Johnson writes beautifully and blends assertion with critique with disarming equanimity."Choice "Immediately arresting because it takes on the issue of begging in the context of a broader Christian ethic. . . Her study makes a useful contribution to the relation between Christian ethics and economic/political theory."Christine D. Pohl — author of Making Room "One does not necessarily expect a book on begging and reimagining property relations to sing with theological and historical insight, but Kelly Johnson's book does just that. Her account is fascinating and beautifully written. She assembles a remarkable group of conversation partners and, with them, raises provocative theological and economic questions and shows how much they matter."Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove — coauthor of Inhabiting the Church "Thank God, Kelly Johnson is bold enough to look our fear of beggars in the face. Love drives out fear, and indeed this book is filled with love for St. Francis, Peter Maurin, and the gifts their lives offer us if only we will let go of our purse strings to receive them. Here is a wealth of wisdom gleaned from Lady Poverty, Source of all our riches."Ched Myers — Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries "An elegant treatise. Johnson's approach defies disciplinary apartheid, weaving a rich tapestry of theological and ethical reflection on faith and economics. Her historical exegesis of churchly stewardship discourse alone is worth the freight. And her commendation of Francis's economic unilateral disarmament' is welcome wisdom in our increasingly hard-hearted 'agonistic marketplace.'"

Kelly Johnson has written a very clear, passionate and eye opening book. Her blistering chapter on the use/ history of 'stewardship' took my breath away. Can not recommend highly enough.

This is a great book, but be forewarned that its intended audience includes the academy. Much of this book delves into pertinent elements of church history, the development of capitalism in the west, and even some economic theory. If you are able to handle a dose of these other disciplines, you should enjoy the book; if you cannot, then this book may not be for you. The last chapter is definitely the best in the book, but the preceding chapters are relevant and necessary to fully appreciate the final chapter. The author claims at the beginning that she does not seek to answer all the questions raised by begging. However, this book will challenge you -- if you're a Christian -- to ponder how God is calling you to live a faithful life that is entirely reliant upon him.

This book is a challenging read, but good academic research.Gave me some new insights on voluntary begging and stewardship.

I know of very few books that attempt to frame not only the charitable obligation of the Christian to the beggar, but the very status of all Christians as beggars before God. Johnson performs an excellent service to both the church and the academy by taking seriously Jesus' approach (especially in light of the prophets) to the poor, beggars, and to money in general. She argues that begging itself has a long sacramental history within Christianity that also provides the non-beggar the opportunity to participate in God's forthcoming heavenly banquet. By refusing to be fearful of beggars, our eyes are opened to the kind of kingdom Jesus inaugurated. This book will challenge most, if not all, of "Christian" America's presumptions about money and those who are completely without it. It is a must-read.

#45,622 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

I've been cooking for a long time. And I have a little bit of a thing for cookbooks; mostly because they offer inspiration, or a set of ways of thinking about my kitchen that I haven't thought of before. Having seen Battilana's recipes in the San Francisco Chronicle, I was interested in what a book of her thinking would look like. It has been less than a week with this book and I already know that her recipes are a life that I would love to be able to live. She takes foods and flavors that I love and makes them simple enough to think about cooking for my family. Not as a project, but as a weeknight. Not as something special, but as a means with which to gather around the table with the people I most want to share that table with. There are some things in the book that I'll likely never cook--or it might just be that I don't kids big enough for them matter yet (hot dog fried rice, for instance), but reading through this book, and beginning with some of the recipes is a hint about what's to come for my family. And it's delicious. So much appreciation to any author who can share that point of view and make it simple to follow. Buy the book, cook the recipes, feed your family and build your repertoire. Each and every element of that process is infinitely worth it.

It isn’t often that I want to cook absolutely everything in a cookbook, but Repertoire is inspiring me to do just that. Beautiful, tasty, and approachable recipes are delivered with clarity, humor and wit in this excellent book. I’ve made the truck stop baked beans and maple-blueberry cornmeal cake already. Delicious. Looking forward to the fried salt and pepper shrimp, gribiche with asparagus, and cherry hand pies.

I bought this book not knowing a lot about it, but I liked the idea of having a repertoire of go-to recipes. I really love this book. All the recipes I've tried have been great. The carrots with burrata are the best. Every recipe is something I want to make and I think Jessica did a great job with this book. I am an avid cookbook collector (over 1200 books) and I really recommend this book.

Please buy this book. It is full of very cookable recipes that feature global flavors and techniques we all can master on weeknights and beyond.I also appreciate the very sincere tone of this book- I do believe these are the recipes the author cooks by heart for her family. It FEELS like someone's repertoire when you read it. I loved the little anecdotes at the beginning of each recipe where Jessica explains why the recipe is important to her and which part of her life it came from. The best part is that I now have lots of new food ideas and I literally can't wait to share what is in this book with my friends and family.Jessica, if you are reading this I want you to know that I have food grade lye in my Amazon shopping cart for the pretzels!

Love this cookbook. As soon as it arrived we made a weekly meal plan based on the recipes and went shopping. So far all 3 recipes we’ve made have come out perfectly and the entire family loved them. Honey Harissa Chicken was just the right balance of spicy and sweet. Eggplant Parm was wonderful (I normally hate eggplant) and so straightforward that my vegetarian daughter who never cooks pulled it off perfectly with just a little parental supervision. And Maine Truck Stop Baked Beans are literally the best baked beans I’ve ever had. Looking forward to many more meals from this book!

This is my new go-to cookbook! I love to cook, but as a new mom, time has become so much more precious than it was in my younger foodie days. This is a book that I can turn to on a frantic weeknight when I get home at 5pm and have 30 minutes to make something that will still satisfy my desire to use real ingredients and create something that is healthy and delicious. When I have more time and want to get fancy, there are recipes for that too. I'm pretty sure I will end up trying everything in this book!

I met Jessica at Yosemite Chefs Dinner in January of this year. She was dynamic, funny and smart. When I found out she was releasing a cookbook, I ordered it the day we left. I loved her take on food. The book has not disappointed me. Her recipes are simple but riff on classic and traditional food. I received it Friday and have already made the salsa verde with grilled flank steak. It was perfect. I can't wait to make most of the recipes in her book. The Greenest Salad looks fabulous as does her take on Eggplant Parmigiana.

It’s not often you find a cookbook that both inspires you to be a better cook and also makes you feel good about the cook you already are. The recipes in Repertoire feel comfortable and familiar but exciting and like something you DEFINITELY want to make and eat as soon as possible. It’s also incredibly family friendly, which as a mother and a cookbook nerd, I appreciate. I’m adding this to the rotation of two or three books I love to give as an engagement/wedding gift and a housewarming gift. Can’t recommend it enough!

About the Author

Michael Bartosh is a consultant and trainer specializing in Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server in the context of cross platform directory services and server infrastructures. A frequent speaker at technical conferences, Michael focuses on solutions that minimize impact on existing infrastructures. Originating from Texas, he resides in downtown Denver, CO with his wife, Amber.Ryan Faas first used a Mac as part of a high school journalism class. At that time never expected to be able to do more than type an occasional story into MacWrite. As such, he is still occasionally surprised to realize that he spent nearly five years as the Mac Hardware Guide/Editor for About.com, co-authored "Troubleshooting, Maintaining and Repairing Macs" (2000 Osborne/McGraw-Hill), and is currently a Mac columnist for Computerworld. When he's not writing about Macs, Ryan is usually busy working as a systems administrator for a human services organization, working on consulting jobs to design or redesign Mac and cross-platform networks and train various groups of IT professionals in the care and feeding of all things Macintosh. All of which would also have very much surprised the high school student he was when he first sat down in front of a Mac IIci. Life experiences that would have been less surprising to Ryan when he was that high school student include being a local government correspondent for the Empire News Exchange, writing social commentary articles published in various forms in both the US and UK, teaching graphic design and technology at the college/vocational school level, and helping to found a communications and technology consulting company in upstate NY.

For those who are familiar with MacOS X and would like to learn the server-side of the equation, this book is it. Apple's documentation has been sparse and this book covers that deficiency with great aplomb. This is the best Mac OS X Server book on the market right now. Too bad O'Reilly just cancelled the Tiger version because I would have first in line for the next edition.[...]I hope they change their minds because it will certainly leave a big void in future MacOS X Server documentation.

I think this is the best book ever published by O'Reilly. I have read several of the other O'Reilly books including the Missing Manual's for OS X, but this book really gets into the functions of Panther server. Sure, it is a little late since Tiger is already out, but much of the book still applies to Tiger server. Before buying this book I bought the Peachpit Press Visual QuickPro Guide for Panther Server. It is a pretty good book for someone who has never administered an OS X server or who is uncomfortable with the command line. This O'Reilly book goes way deeper into administering the server. It talks about some 3rd party open source software that is very often helpful in maintaining a server. OS X server provides a lot of services that are derived from open source projects almost all of which have entire O'Reilly books dedicated to them. This book does a nice job of covering what you NEED to know about the services that OS X server provides all in one book. I highly recommend this book to anyone running even one OS X server 10.3 or higher.

The word 'essential', to me, implies just the important elements. But this book goes far beyond that. In fact, it does an excellent job introducing technical topics in the larger world. For example, LDAP is given about five pages of explanation before we even get to how it's done on OS X. To me, that means this book is a comprehensive resource that will inform you about both the standards and their implementation in this environment. Obviating the need for a standards book.If you are doing Mac OS X Server work, you need this book. The documentation in the operating system and on-line is tragic.

This book is organized into seven parts and one appendix: from new system installation to remote management and different kind of clients supported.Inside the first part, there is a chapter about planning system deployment reviewing different scenarios as first task to take care of. The author exposes some basic ideas about system administration as well as strategies and tools to resolve a large number of common problems. One of the key points of this book is its better organization centered around system deployment phases than Apple documentation. Continuous explanations and small tricks to monitor and tune the system are made across the entire book sections. There is exhaustive information about installation with graphical tools, command line and network setup. The most appreciated resource can be screenshots: it allows to follow all the explanations without any problem to new Apple system administrator.Authors, as advanced users, describe in an easy but deeply enough way all management tools of all system services either graphical or command line versions. Some other Open Source or even propietary tools are described when they are good alternatives to Apple ones. All the chapters contain "best practices" sections and background knowledge to really understand their functions. This is a "must-have" book for all level users related to Apple systems administration. I'm really impatient waiting for Tiger revision.

Where this book shines is as a reference for obscure settings. For example:I've been trying to replace a Mac OS X Client machine with a Mac OS X Server machine, but I needed to make AFP work the same way it did under Client (so some users are chrooted into their home folders while other users can access the enclosing sharepoint). Two days of beating my head against it, trying to compare com.apple.AppleFileServer.plist files and NetInfo records got me nowhere. Fifteen minutes with this book and pages 371-373 have solved all my problems. (It actually took me under five minutes to find the answer I needed, but the book was so interesting I read another ten minutes before I remembered I had a job to do.)Bartosh may be a better author than he is an instructor, and he's a superb instructor. This book should be on every Mac OS X administrator's desk.

Even with 10.4 out this is still the number one book on Mac OS X server there is. Period. Bartosh goes deep in to all areas of OS X server and provides excellent examples for you to follow. This book has saved my hide on a number of occasions and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. If you only buy one OS X server book this is it.

If you run any level of Mac OS X Server, you need to have this book. Period. Run, don't walk. It's one of the most useful sysadmin references I've ever read, and within a week of me buying it, it showed me how to fix an Open Directory Replica problem I was having, along with explaining what the hell was going on to cause the problem. So not only did I fix the problem, but I know why the problem happened in the first place, all because of this book.Any book that shows me the how, what, and why of a problem that fast is worth whatever it costs, and I'll be buying the Mac OS X 10.4 book as well.Wait, here's another one...I helped write a book on shell scripting. If you have to pick between the two, buy this book.

Once upon a time, long ago and far away, there were precisely seven planets: Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, all apparently revolving around a solidly fixed Earth. And then about five centuries ago came Nicholas Copernicus, who invented the solar system. He said the Sun was really in the middle surrounded by six planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth (with Moon), Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. It was truly the Sun’s system, with Earth now a spinning planet. It was all very simple and elegant.   Three centuries after Copernicus, things were no longer so simple. In 1781 another big planet, Uranus, was found, and then a lot of small ones were given names like Ceres, Astraea, Flora, Hygeia, and Kalliope. In 1846, still another big planet, Neptune, gained planetary status. By 1854 there were 41 planets, and astronomers cried “Enough!” So they all decided there were eight large planets, and the little guys weren’t really planets but minor planets.   Today astronomers know that the solar system is much more complex and interesting than anyone dreamed of in the 1850s. There are more than 130 natural satellites, and more are being discovered. One, Saturn’s Titan, is bigger than the planet Mercury. If Titan and our moon had independent orbits, they would qualify as planets. Astronomers now have orbits for nearly 500,000 minor planets, half of which have been assigned numbers, and about 15,000 of which have been given names. Almost all of them are irregularly-shaped rocks, but at least one, Ceres, is massive enough for its gravity to pull it into a sphere, so it is a dwarf planet. And there are the comets, hoards of them in the deep freeze beyond Neptune.   Occasionally some of these huge chunks of dirty ice get nudged into the inner parts of the solar system, where they thaw out and sprout long, beautiful tails. And a few of these ice balls are massive enough to pull themselves into spherical dwarf planets. Pluto is one of these, smaller than our moon. Makemake and Haumea are still smaller, while Eris is a little larger than Pluto. Three of these even have their own satellites. Undoubtedly more of these icy dwarf planets await discovery.   For now, there are eight classical planets and five dwarf planets, making thirteen!   --Dr. Owen Gingerich, Former Research Professor of Astronomy, Harvard and Astronomer Emeritus, Smithsonian Astronomical Observatory

It gives the best summary I've seen on the latest thinking re: definition and identification of planets. Who knew there were 13 now? Pluto is back in but as a dwarf planet and it has some new dwarf planet friends. My 5 1/2 grandson knew most of the rest of the planetary/solar system information as apparently it is pretty basic but beautifully illustrated. Also includes mythology and historical asides which he did not know, but which actually bring an interesting interdisciplinary element into the study. If your child is really serious about planets and stars, and older than about 7 this may be too basic, but would probably be fine for all others. Is a typically beautifully illustrated National Geographic product and fortunately we enjoy reading it.

Wow! Did I learn a lot! This is the latest information known about the solar system to date. I taught the solar system to elementary students for 36 years and I was amazed at how things have changed. I only retired 6 years ago but it is a though I knew very little. How much fun it would be to teach about Haumer in the Kuiper Belt! Imagine an icy football tumbling end-over-end with a rock inside! And contemplate the "Easterbunny" or Makemake (MAH-keh MAH-keh), the 12th planet from the sun! We can't even imagine how cold it is at -406 degrees F. There is not anything on Earth that we know of that is that cold! See what I mean? It's a new universe out there!

This is such a fun book! My son and I loved the journey all the way from the sun to the 13th dwarf plant, Eris. Some of our favorite facts learned included: Why is Mercury silent? Could life be possible on one of Saturn's moons? Why is Venus considered earth's "evil twin"? How did earth's moon form? Which two planets do scientists think might have diamonds under their clouds?I enjoyed having all the Planetary updates from my elementary school days when Pluto "lost" its planet status and all we had was "My Very Energetic Mother Jumped Straight Up Near"...My son and I finished this book wanting to learn even more about our solar system and wondering about its mysteries.

If your kid is a solar system nut, like ours, this is a great book. He doesn't like that most planet books don't have the dwarf planets, so I was excited for this one. When I told him this book was coming he said "does it show the dwarf planet candidates?" He was so happy they are mentioned too.

This is a good solar system book because it really has the most updated information of any kids book I looked at for this age range. That being said..I don't love the book but it's good enough. I saw another I liked more but it didn't have as much on the dwarf planets. I don't like the way this book is written that much...when closely compared to Our Solar System by Seymour Simon, I think the wording and flow are much better in that book but I went with this one because it seemed to have more diagrams and seemed like it might be more appealing for a 6 year old to peruse on their own. In the end I guess I'd say both would be useful books and I'm sure I'll eventually pick up the Seymour Simon as well. So, I like this book but perhaps as more of a companion with other solar system books.

Absolutely Gorgeous and a very important resource for your classroom.

This is the first book my 9 year old reaches for since it came in the mail last week. She has gone through it on her own and I have gone over it with her too since there are words hard to pronounce and understand at here reading level. While it is a great starter book to intrigue the mind of a child, it does lack in a lot of information, but at least it leads her to more questions. You will need to buy books that are more in depth if you are looking to supplement a science curriculum. She is very happy to have this in our collection.

My 6 year old daughter is super into outer space so I ordered this book hoping it wouldn't be too over her head. It's not but would also be perfect for an older child. She is more into minor/dwarf planets so this book is perfect. The illustrations are gorgeous and plentiful. LOTS of information. In fact we loved it so much we will have order it again as her first copy was covered in old banana after she toted it into kindergarten class to show it off.

Arc ParticipantAnother great book for the Sugar County Boys series.I'll be honest when I first got the email with the Arc attached I was two books behind anybody else who has probably been reading the series. So once I had it down loaded I quickly read the previous two (even though they can be read as stand alones) before devouring this one.It is so hard to chose my favorite if the series. And believe or not I didn't really give Law much thought. Being I was so focus on the couples. So I thought of him like King Pin (from Daredevil the animated one) fat and bald wearing suits. Instead we get a silver haired fox. Who is finally getting his happily ever after with a girl half his age. MmmAdd it to your shelf and read it immediately!

In a previous review, I said Silas and Kane's books were the ones I was most excited to read, and for good reason. "Country Liquor" is still my favorite from this series but "Breaking His Law" is a very close second.Law is so freaking hot; if he's the Devil, sign me up. I'll be selling my soul so fast...The chemistry between Law and Taylor is off the charts. The Sugar County Boys are panty-melting goodness, by "Old MAN" Law is toe-curling, thigh-chenching, breath-hitching, moan-inducing, finger-licking levels of filthy perfection.

Breaking the Law is another sizzling story in the Sugar County Boys series. Taylor is a cheeky young FBI agent who has her eyes set on the ultimate bad boy named Lawson. He's almost twice her age and has ties with criminals. These two have a little sexy history. They are both attracted to each other but find themselves on different sides of the law. What happens when Taylor gets caught by the man who makes her panties melt? This story was hot, steamy, taboo and intriguing. Madison Faye once again gives us another red hot read. Sugar County Boys series is a must read for naughty romance lovers.

I really love this series and I feel this is the best book of the series. This is a down and dirty insta-love novella. The story centers around Law, Sugar County’s notorious kingpin and Taylor, Sugar County’s own undercover FBI agent. Taylor makes an error in judgment when she goes after Law. They give into their forbidden desire for one another that leads to some steamy and down right dirty scenes. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!

There are some authors you know are going to write a great story and Madison is one of them. When a young girl finally comes to grip about her true feelings and goes after the man she wants, well things get exciting. It helps that now she works with the FBI and he has his own, “ businesses “.Loved the story and the story line.

I hate, hate writing reviews that aren't great. But this book lacked plot, character development, and so much else. It is basically just sex between two people which becomes boring. So sorry to the author but there was such a story to tell.

A young woman, Taylor and older alpha rough guy, Law come together??? This is a mindless sex book. Reads quick.

I absolutely loved reading my arc copy of Breaking his law by Madison Faye. This is definitely my favorite of this series. I couldnt put it down. The story was off the charts hot and full of never-ending excitement. This is a absolute must read .

Although I was skeptical at first on the effectiveness of kettlebell training, I was quickly blown away by the information once I started reading. This book provides step by step guide on how to use kettlebells as part of training for muscle gain and fat loss. I particularly like the part where common mistakes are shared in the book. It is also explained carefully how a beginner can progress into more advanced workouts. If you are looking for a quick instruction book to get into shape, this is probably a good book for it. I can not recommend this book enough!

Scam with fake reviews. Its just a long essay on how great kettlebells are and lots of typos. No pics, no workouts. Waste of time and money.

Good exercises, just too much story

This book doesn't really give you the true examples of how to use the kettlebell and the proper exercises.

I am new to kettlebell training and wanted a book to give me the basics and also be useful as I advance in my traininig. This book met those goals for me.The sample workouts and more advanced exercises I read through and will incorporate into my training as I progress. For the money I thought the book was very good for the beginner to start with.
